It's been 30 years since Blade Runner. And Director Ridley Scott is now tempted to revisit the dark future imagined by Philip K. Dick. He has indeed confirmed that Blade Runner 2 is in the works and that the film is intended to be a sequel to the renowned original. He also revealed that the lead character will be a woman:
"I started my first meetings on the Blade Runner sequel last week. We have a very good take on it. And we’ll definitely be featuring a female protagonist."Director Ridley Scott
The plot is still kept secret for now. All we know is that the story of Blade Runner 2 will take place some years after the first film concluded and will feature a woman in the lead role. Whether or not Harrison Ford will return remains unclear. Hampton Fancher who co-wrote the screenplay of the original film is in charge of the script of the sequel.
